After a successful six years of Blinduro, the blind racing format returned for the seventh edition to the surroundings of Lake Lipno. Background on the shore of the lake in the campsite and sold-out race guaranteed a pleasant atmosphere throughout the weekend. “The total number of participants was 600 riders from 11 countries, which is an all-time record. This event was sold out in one day” says director of the race Michal Prokop.
Prokop already knows the local terrain after those years and every year he tries to come up with something new. “During the winter I did some new research on the location here. The main goal this time was to put together as much new trails as possible. In the end it worked out and that half of the stages were new”.
On Saturday, four stages were waiting for the racers. From the first stage in Lipno, the riders were slowly moving towards to Cow moutain for the first two stages. These stages were very technical and rocky. Fortunately, the weather was beautiful all weekend, which enhanced the flow in the stages.
On Sunday the first racers started at 9 am and the last ones closed the starting list at about 2 pm. The start was again in the Lipno campsite and the riders were moving to the highest point of mountain Luč. On the second day, four trails were prepared for the competitors. After all, the whole day was an enduro advertisement. Good racing, super dry stages, relaxed atmosphere, lots of food at the feed zone and beer at the finish expo area.
“The winner Vojtech Bláha is obviously suited to Lipno: “This year’s Blinduro was also my first race in the Czech Republic, so I went into it kind of slowly and I didn’t know what pace I would be going at. On Saturday, the RZs were quite technical and you had to keep an eye out for a rock or a sharp corner. On Sunday the pace of the RZ picked up and by the end of the day we were burning through the woods at full throttle. I think it was well graded and everyone had a smile on their face at the finish”.
